We use this site to share information about our publications, events, and projects.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect personal data in the following ways:

  • When you leave a comment on a post that allows comments.
  • When you contact us through our website form.
  • When you browse the site, cookies and analytics may collect anonymous technical data.

We collect this information to maintain site functionality, respond to enquiries, and understand how visitors use our site. We don’t sell or share your information for marketing purposes.

Comments
Some posts may invite comments; others may not.
If you leave a comment, we collect the information you provide (name, email address, and comment) along with your IP address and browser information to help prevent spam.

An anonymised version of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. You can read their privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

If a post doesn’t invite comments, no comment-related data is collected.

Media
If you upload or provide images for the website, please avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors could extract this information.

Contact forms
When you send a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you provide. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is kept only as long as necessary for that purpose. We don’t use this information for marketing or share it with others.

Cookies
Our site uses a few cookies to function correctly and to understand how visitors use it.
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your details in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Analytics
We may use basic website analytics tools (for example, those provided by our hosting provider or WordPress) to understand site traffic and performance. This data is anonymous and doesn’t identify individual visitors. You can opt out by disabling cookies in your browser.

Who we share your data with?
We don’t share personal data with third parties except where required for basic site functionality, such as spam detection services.

How long we retain your data?
Comments and related metadata are retained indefinitely to automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments.
Messages sent through the contact form are retained only as long as necessary to manage correspondence and then deleted.

What rights you have over your data?
If you’ve left a comment or contacted us, you can request an exported file of your personal data or ask us to delete it. This doesn’t include data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where is your data sent?
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
Some site data may be processed by our hosting provider within the UK or the EU, in accordance with GDPR standards.

How we protect your data?
We utilise secure hosting, password protection, and HTTPS encryption to safeguard your data. Access to the website’s administrative areas is limited to authorised members of Biscuit Books.
